Village at the Park is one of Wellington’s most centrally located comprehensive lifestyle villages, with the convenience of being so close to the vibrant heart of New Zealand’s capital city, located at 130 Rintoul Street, Newtown, Wellington. 

Village at the Park offers various levels of accommodation for those aged over 55 years. Accommodation options range from hospital and dementia bed facilities to independent apartments and apartments with care services included, to fully independent villas. Village at the Park Care offers a 42 bed hospital, a 33 bed dementia wing and a 17 bed rest home whilst Village at the Park Lifecare has 38 villas and 99 apartments.  

Village at the Park is located on the former Athletic Park site originally owned by Wellington Tenths Trust. Athletic Park was opened in April 1896 and continued its fine sporting traditions until the final rugby match was held, 103 years later, in October 1999. 

In 2002 Wellington Tenths Trust entered into a partnership to create Village at the Park on the site. The Trusts joint venture partner is Arvida.  

The latest construction has seen the building of a 24 apartment block.  This newest block was opened on 15 August 2019.  

The last stages of development of the site will be west of Block E with the construction of a further 25 villas enabled by the decommissioning of eight of the older style villas.  This will be done in two stages to allow existing residents to be rehoused in apartments or in some of the new villas.  

The Village continues to provide the Trust with a steady income and is increasing in asset value.  It is the Trusts most valuable asset.
