Jenni Dittmer

Tribal Affiliation: Te Atiawa, Ngāti Te Whiti, Ngāti Tāwhirikura

Born in Wellington and raised on the Kāpiti Coast, Jenni spent a lot of time in her childhood and early teens at her “Grandad & Granny’s” (Ralph & Flora Love) place in Korokoro.  Along with her cousins they were surrounded by stories of their grandparent’s youth, strength in knowing who they were and where they belonged, visits to
Te Tātau o Te Pō, watching Grandad always working with ‘papers’ and having modelled for her what is now one of her core beliefs.  The importance of respecting ALL people.

Jenni’s Mum (Nui Biss, nee Love) and Dad (Ralphe) provided her with a strong set of values centred on honesty, integrity, respect for all, working hard in all you do, a focus on the importance of whānau and to have faith in what you believe.  As the eldest of three children her two siblings, Jonathan Biss and Philly Fairclough both live in New Plymouth.

Recently returning to live in the Hutt Valley, with her husband Kevin, after ten years working overseas; Jenni has a son, daughter and three mokopuna.  With Kevin, Jenni has dipped into property management and ownership and as a senior leader in schools and educational projects has been involved with property maintenance and managing of large budgets.  Jenni is now running her own business as an educational consultant.

Jenni is a passionate educator who has worked nationally and internationally across primary, intermediate and secondary schools for over thirty years.  Prior to living overseas, where her work was supporting local Emirati schools introduce a bilingual (Arabic and English) curriculum, her teaching career saw her working in schools across the Hutt, Wainuiomata, Hawkes Bay, Southland and the Far North.

With a Masters in Educational Leadership she has enjoyed working as a teacher, senior school leader, project lead, professional development facilitator and coach.  Her key focus is on improving educational opportunities and outcomes for tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau.

Jenni’s interests include walking, biking, travelling and spending time with her whānau.
