Helen is our Kura Ahurea Programme Administer and works part-time at the Executive Office at Hikoikoi. She ensures that the teachers involved in the Kura Ahurea Māori language programme have all the resources, guidance and training they need in order to successfully embed te Reo into their school curriculum. If your local primary school is interested in finding out about the Kura Ahurea programme Helen is your point of contact. In addition to administering the Kura Ahurea Programme, Helen is setting up an archive for Trusts.
Helen is a qualified teacher, who has taught in schools and galleries in the UK, Russia and New Zealand. She is the author of the New Zealand Art Activity Book for children. Helen has studied te Reo at Te Wānanga ō Aotearoa.
Tip from Helen, when learning a new language it can feel daunting, but if you just take small steps and try to learn one new thing each day, eventually you’ll get there!
